SMC Corporation of America Celebrates its Second National Pneumatics Day on April 27, 2022

Founded by SMC Corporation of America in 2021, National Pneumatics Day is an annual celebration that occurs on April 27 each year. SMC Corporation was founded on this same day in 1959 and has since become the world’s largest manufacturer of pneumatic components for industrial automation. This day celebrates the power of air and the importance of pneumatics in sustainable automation.

National Pneumatics Day is to be celebrated by maintaining industrial compressed air systems. A few maintenance best practices are:

• Minimizing air leaks
• Changing the element in pneumatic air filters
• Reducing the supply pressure from air compressors

The combination of these best practices helps to reduce electrical consumption, industrial CO2 emissions, and machine downtime.

Next Generation Social Media Contest

As SMC celebrates the history and advancement of pneumatics, it also recognizes the future of the industry; SMC has invited member schools of NAESC, the National Association of Engineering Student Councils, to be a part of a Next Generation Social Media Contest leading up to National Pneumatics Day. For this contest, SMC posts an image of each participating member school and the organization with the most likes on their respective post wins a working SMC product demo along with some SMC swag.
