SMC & Ed Carpenter Racing at the Indianapolis 500

SMC will be prominently displayed on ECR’s No. 20 Fuzzy’s Vodka Chevrolet during all on-track activity at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The No. 20 was driven by British rookie Jordan King in the recent INDYCAR Grand Prix. Team owner and Indianapolis native Ed Carpenter steps back into the car for his 15th Indianapolis 500 later this month.

Ed Carpenter Racing - ECR first entered the Verizon IndyCar series in 2012. The team is led by IndyCar’s only owner/driver, Ed Carpenter. ECR has amassed seven victories and over 20 top five finishes in its first six years. In 2018, Carpenter will race at all oval events in the No. 20 Fuzzy’s Vodka Chevrolet while Jordan King will take over for the road and street courses.

IndyCar Grand Prix – Opening weekend at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway featured the INDYCAR Grand Prix, a road course race that takes place inside the grounds of IMS. The 2.439-mile, 14-turn road course incorporates portions of Turns 1 and 2 and the frontstraight of the famed oval. SMC was on the black and chrome No. 20, driven by King.

Indianapolis 500 – Over the course of two weeks, 33 of the best drivers in the world will complete nearly 40 hours of practice, have to turn four perfect laps at over 230 miles per hour to qualify, then race 500 miles on a 2.5 mile oval. SMC will ride along with Carpenter, winner of back-to-back pole positions for the Indianapolis 500 in 2013 and 2014. In 2017, he qualified 2nd, and has reclaimed the pole again for 2018. The Indianapolis 500 will run for the 102nd time on Sunday, May 27th at noon.
