Secondary Battery Products
SMC has designed a variety of products to be used in secondary battery manufacturing applications. Secondary batteries are rechargeable batteries, sometimes referred to as storage batteries or secondary cells, often used in the electric vehicle (EV) industry. These batteries differ from primary batteries as they are able to be recharged. This product line includes actuators, valves, airline equipment, etc., designed using materials compatible with secondary battery applications, as well as products to be used in low dew point environments.
Secondary Battery Products
Directional control valves and manifolds are fundamental to industrial automation as they direct air to pneumatic actuators and vacuum equipment, and act as pilot air for large-scale industrial process valves. SMC's 25A- series variations are designed using materials compatible with secondary battery applications, and are able to be used in low dew point environments.
SMC valves feature energy saving, low power consumption coils, high flow rates (Cv, SCFM), and quick response times for premium reliabillity and longevity. They can be actuated manually, pneumatically, or electrically, and are able to connect to industrial fieldbus and ethernet with I/O capabilities to receive feedback from sensors and actuators using protocols such as : EtherNet/IP™, PROFINET, EtherCAT®, DeviceNet™, Profibus® or I/O Link (IEC61131-9).
Air cylinders and pneumatic actuators can support automation by enhancing productivity, increasing throughput, and improving worker safety. The 25A- series variations are designed using materials compatible with secondary battery applications, and are able to be used in low dew point environments. These actuators range from linear, guided, rodless, locking, clamp, and stopper styles, and are available with inch and metric dimensions, and as NFPA and ISO Standards. The line also includes related products such as shock absorbers and joints, also compatible with secondary battery applications.
The series MSUB compact rotary table is perfect for end-of-arm tooling applications. It incorporates load bearings and a mounting face with a vane style rotary actuator. Rotation indicators on the side of the table facilitate easy rotating range adjustments.
Vacuum generators and suction cups are integral to industrial automation pick and place systems as gripping solutions. SMC's array of vacuum generators, also referred to as ejectors, have variations that include single ejector unit, manifold, inline, and generator/cup in one. SMC suction cups are modular allowing for custom configuration of a multitude of sizes, shapes, materials, and mounting adapters. Options include non-marking types, FDA compliant, varioius cup shapes, ball-joint connections, and buffers.

Compressed air for industrial automation equipment is treated with air prep components to extend machine longevity and enhance efficiency. SMC's air filters, pressure regulators, and lubricators are designed for modularity for easy and versatile installation. The 25A- series variations are designed using materials compliant with secondary battery applicaitons and able to be used in low dew point environments. Standard products are copper (Cu) and zinc Zn free.
Cost effective and clean looking, series 25A-AR regulators offer various pressure range settings to accommodate most applications. The locking adjustment knob prevents accidental setting changes. The modular design of the 25A-AR series connects with other SMC air preparation equipment.
SMC's 25A- Connector series include Fittings, Speed Controllers, and Tubing designed using materials compliant with secondary battery applications and able to be used in low dew point environments. The fittings are available in inch and metric sizes, in numerous configurations. SMC's One Touch, push-to-connect fittings require no tools for tube insertion. Air or fluid leaks are prevented with an innovative anchor grip seal. Pneumatic and other fluid tubing is available in inch and metric OD sizes, in various colors and materials to withstand aggressive environments. SMC speed controllers have a broad range of applications and speciality focus such as air cylinder speed control use at low speed, and with residual pressure.
SMC's 25A- Process Valve series feature air pilot/direct solenoid operated valves designed using materials compliant with secondary battery applications and are able to be used in low dew point environments. Available body materials include resin, aluminum, brass, or stainless steel.

Electric linear actuators can push, pull, or transfer workloads differently than pneumatic actuators. Pneumatic actuators rely on relatively crude devices such as rubber cushions or shock absorbers, pressure regulators, and flow restricting fittings at the port to control their motion. By contrast, an electric actuator employs an electronically controlled motor and ballscrew to deliver a precise motion profile through acceleration, speed, and deceleration. Further, the controller can integrate multiple "stop" positions along the actuator's stroke with high precision and repeatability.
The 25A- series variations are compatible with secondary battery manufacturing for electronics automotive, and other vehicle types. Design goals include eliminating copper (Cu) and Zinc (Zn) material where possible and employing a low dew point grease that retains lubricity even in low manufacturing temperatures. Please note that copper and zinc materials are used for the motors, cables, controllers and drivers.
