End Lock Cylinders
CA2 End Lock
Basic type cylinders with end lock prevent dropping when air supply decreases or residual pressure is exhausted. Separate air piping is not required for locking. Locking position can be at retracted end or at both ends, depending on the cylinder model. A wide variety of options are available.

CM2 End Lock
Series CM2-Z stainless steel cylinders are compact, lightweight and offer high performance. The piston seal and rod seal design provides excellent life. Transparent auto switch bracket provides visibility of the status of the switch. The CM2-Z series delivers extra flexibility including the option of male and female rods. Where space is at a premium, you can select a female rod end (up to 29 mm shorter) and/or boss-cut type (up to 16 mm shorter). Rubber bumpers are standard. The CM2-Z series offers a variety of mounting options.
CQ2 End Lock
End lock version of the standard double acting, single rod version of the CQ2 compact cylinder. End of stroke locks are included can be used to hold a load in case of a loss of air pressure. The CQ2 is available in bore sizes from 20mm to 100mm. It comes standard with male or female piston rod threads. It is possible to mount auto switches on any of the 4 surfaces.
CXS End Lock
The CXS-R Series is a dual piston actuator with non-rotating accuracy ± 0.1° enhanced with a retract end lock feature for added machine safety. The end lock will engage when air pressure is lost and can be released by reintroducing air pressure or via a manual release bolt. The CXSL-R high precision ball bushing bearing type allows for smooth operation that ensures stable travel resistance. The CXSM-R slide bearing type provides lateral stability protecting it from side load impacts.
MB End Lock
The MB series medium duty tie rod cylinder offers an improved design that enhances cylinder operation and ease of use. The standard air cushion utilizes a floating cushion seal to eliminate piston rod bouncing. The cushion volume has been elevated permitting about 30% more allowable kinetic energy absorption. The port and captive cushion adjustment valve are located on the same side of cap for heightened access. The MB series is available with many standard options, which include stroke adjustment, tandem, high/low temperature seals, heavy rod scraper, non-rotating rod, double rod and many more.
MGG End Lock
The MGG integrates a round body, end lock cylinder for its power source with external guide rods to isolate the load bearing from the movement of the actuator's rod and seals for a one piece unit. The end lock can be specified for either the head end (H) or rod end (R) of the stroke. The brake spring, end lock mechanism will engage when air pressure is lost for drop prevention applications and can be released by reintroducing air pressure or via a manual release bolt. It is enhanced with shock absorbers at the end of stroke for maximum kinetic energy absorption. Non-rotating accuracy ranging from +/-0.02° for 100 mm bore to +/-0.07° for 20 mm bore. The (L) high precision ball bushing allows for smooth operation that ensures stable travel resistance, suitable for pushing and lifting applications. The (M) carbon steel alloy slide bearing provides lateral stability protecting it from side load impacts, suitable for stopping applications.

The MLGP-B/F is a compact body, locking actuator integrated with internal guide shafts to isolate the load bearing from the movement of the actuator's rod and seals. The locking mechanism can be specified for either the extension side (F) or the retraction side (B) of the stroke. The brake spring, locking mechanism will engage when air pressure is lost for drop prevention applications and can be released by reintroducing air pressure or via a manual process. The (L) high precision ball bushing allows for smooth operation that ensures stable travel resistance, suitable for pushing and lifting applications. The (M) carbon steel alloy slide bearing provides lateral stability protecting it from side load impacts, suitable for stopping applications.
MGZ End Lock
The MGZ series is a non-lube double power air cylinder available in both rotating and non-rotating styles. The MGZ's unique design doubles the pressurized area for extension making the MGZ an ideal cylinder for lifting and pressing operations. The front end lock style MGZ holds the rod when extended.
MTS End Lock
The MTS cylinder provides superior non-rotating accuracy and linear stability in a compact package. Traditional non-rotating cylinders typically can only hold position to within 0.5° and have inherent sealing problems. Integrating a ball spline as the rod bearing, this cylinder approximates the non-rotational accuracy of a guided cylinder without the added space requirements of external guide rods. In addition, a special rod seal design limits leakage to the equivalent of a round piston rod seal. An optional end lock retains the rod in the retracted position even in the event of loss of air pressure for added safety. Mounting can be done from four precisely machined faces with parallelism of less than 0.1mm.

The MXQ precision slide is ideal for applications requiring closely held parallelism and perpendicular specifications.

CLM2 Fine Lock Cylinder
The series CLM2 offers a brake mechanism to stop the piston rod at any position while retracting or extending. With three different brake mechanisms and four bore sizes available, SMC gives you the choice of the best unit for your application. The compact and lightweight CLM2 is a part of the CM2 product line.
CLQ Lock Cylinder
Compact cylinder series CLQ offers drop prevention when the pressure of air source is decreased or the residual pressure is released. The CLQ has a low profile design, with a compact lock unit. Available in 8 bore sizes ranging from 20 to 100mm, and is auto switch capable.
CNA2 Lock Cylinder
The CNA2 series cylinder with lock is suitable for mid-stroke stops, emergency stops, and drop prevention. An equal holding force in extending and retracting directions make it possible to lock at either end of the stroke. High reliability and stable holding force are maintained by using a substantially lengthened brake shoe with superior wear resistance. The locking mechanism is isolated from lock release air, so lock function is not diminished by excessive dirt or drain in compressed air.
CNG Lock Cylinder
Greater locking efficiency as well as stable locking and unlocking operation has been achieved with the CNG cylinder series by arranging a large number of steel ball bearings in circular rows. The floating taper ring provides alignment and stable locking force with respect to piston rod eccentricity. Unlocking pressure of 0.25MPa (0.05MPa lower than conventional SMC product).
CNS Lock Cylinder
The CNS series cylinder with lock is ideal for applications requiring intermediate and emergency stop and drop prevention. The compact lock unit saves space and the enclosed construction and separation of the lock mechanism and the unlocking piston chamber minimizes the influences of poor air quality.
MLGC Fine Lock Cylinder
The MLGC integrates a round body, fine locking cylinder for its power source with external guide rods to combine for a compact, light weight unit. Its fine lock mechanism can lock at mid-stroke, either in the extend or retract stroke cycle. The fine lock mechanism can be activated either by a spring force, as a drop prevention measure when air pressure is lost, or actived pneumatically with pressurized air to lock the rod position into place for holidng a work piece. Both spring and pneumatic locking mechanism can be used in one unit. It is designed with air cushions at the end of stroke for maximum kinetic energy absorption. The (L) high precision ball bushing allows for smooth operation that ensures stable travel resistance, suitable for pushing and lifting applications. The (M) carbon steel alloy slide bearing provides lateral stability protecting it from side load impacts, suitable for stopping applications.

MLU Lock Cylinder
Plate cylinder with lock series MLU is ideal for maintaining supply pressure to prevent dropping of the load when residual pressure is released. Drop prevention is possible at any point of stroke. Lock positions can be changed to accommodate the position of the external stopper and the thickness of the clamped work piece.
