SMC Celebrates National Pneumatics Day 2024 with Nationwide Open Houses, Awards, and More

NOBLESVILLE, Ind., (Apr. 27, 2024) – National Pneumatics Day, founded by SMC Corporation of America in 2021 and celebrated annually on April 27^th, celebrates the power of air and the importance of pneumatics in sustainable automation. Founded on this same day in 1959, SMC Corporation has since become the world’s largest manufacturer of pneumatic components for industrial automation.

In celebration of National Pneumatics Day, individuals and organizations are encouraged to maintain their industrial compressed air systems. Some essential maintenance practices include minimizing air leaks, changing the element in pneumatic air filters, and reducing the supply pressure from air compressors. The combination of these practices helps to reduce electrical consumption, industrial CO₂ emissions, and machine downtime.

Beyond maintenance, SMC is marking the 2024 National Pneumatics Day with a series of exciting events and initiatives. This year's celebrations include nationwide open houses, the presentation of the Sustainability in Automation award, a community day at SMC headquarters, and a social media contest for next generation engineers. Nationwide Open Houses:

This year, SMC will host nationwide open houses at a number of SMC sales branches, as well as at headquarters in Noblesville, IN, on Friday, April 26^th in celebration of National Pneumatics Day. Branches are inviting their local customers to these open houses, which will include two featured presentations and a series of workshops that vary by branch. These are listed below:

Sustainability in Automation Award:

SMC is inviting the community to explore SMC & The Automation Factory: A World of Pure Innovation at SMC’s headquarters in Noblesville, IN on Friday, April 27^th from 10am – 2pm. Activities will include the following:

Social Media Contest for Next Generation Engineers:

As SMC celebrates the history and advancement of pneumatics, it also recognizes the future of the industry; SMC has invited college-level engineering clubs from across the country to participate in a social media contest leading up to National Pneumatics Day. This contest entails SMC posting an image for each participating organization, and the organization with the most activity on their respective post wins working SMC product demos along with some SMC swag.

The contest will be live from 12pm ET on April 19^th to 12pm ET on April 26^th on the SMC Instagram, @smcusacorporation.
